Dale Lynn Knapton's Obituary
Our brother passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 30th, 2026 from complications due to sepsis. He fought a hard battle and will be missed.
Dale Lynn Knapton was born on June 24th, 1952 in Paso Robles California to parents Dale E. and Connie McComb Knapton. He was the oldest of six children. He grew up in West Valley City, Utah. He graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah and attended the University of Utah where he earned a degree in history.
Dale had many hobbies in his life. He liked trains and enjoyed building models of all kinds. He loved to read and went to the bookstore often. He especially liked reading comic books and Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mystery books. He loved learning about history. He enjoyed baseball and had a baseball card collection. He collected calendars, clocks, movies and other items. He loved cats and collected and fostered them too. Dale enjoyed playing games, building puzzles and watching classic shows and movies on TV. Growing up, he went camping a lot with his family, mostly in the Uintah Mountains.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his nephew Nicholas, and it was a sad time when Nick passed away. Later in life, before she passed away, his sister Cindy would frequently spend time with him at his apartment playing games and watching TV which he really enjoyed. As he got older, he struggled with his health and had problems with his feet and knees. His sister Pam was his caregiver, and we are grateful for all she did for him.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Connie Knapton, his nephew Nicholas Young and his sister Cindy Young. He is survived by his sisters, Kanna Meeks (Randy), Holly Lemon (Mel), Pamela Hardy (Shawn), Heidi Knapton, several nephews and nieces and his cat Rosie. We love you Dale and will miss you.
We would like to thank the staff at St. Mark’s Hospital for the care and compassion they gave to our brother.
A celebration of life will be held in Dale’s honor on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 12:00PM at the LDS Church on 1970 E Stratford Avenue Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. We are thankful to the Crystal Heights 1st Ward for the services they are providing.
