Dale Dean Kohli's Obituary
Dale Dean Kohli peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his four children on Wednesday evening, September 6th, 2023.
Dale was born on September 5th, 1945 in Ottawa, Ohio to Raymond Waldo Kohli and Opal Fern Fisher. Dale was the third of four children: Raymond Jr., Richard ‘Dick’ and Pamela, all of whom preceded Dale in death .
Dale was a graduate of Ottawa Glandorf High School, and shortly thereafter, married his sweetheart, Barbara Ellen Shinkle on December 22nd, 1963. Later while living in Ohio, Dale and Barbara joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and were married and sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple along with their 4 children, Kimberly (Craig) Johnston, Kent (Debbie Smith), Kristopher (Heidi Call) and Kellie (David) Haws.
During his lifetime, Dale worked as an Electrician, a parts and service manager for Volkswagen in Lima, Ohio and finally he worked for White Motors and later as an electronic technician for Herecules Alliant Aerospace Technologies. Dale was a master mechanic and handyman, and he never met any vehicle or appliance, HVAC unit or furnace he couldn’t repair.
Dale moved his family to Utah in 1978 and settled in Roy in 1980 where he and Barbara raised their family. Dale was an active member of the Roy Ninth Ward where he served faithfully in various callings including: Scoutmaster, Aaronic Priesthood advisor, Sunday School teacher, Elder’s Quorum Instructor and Elder’s Quorum President. Dale also served as an Ordinance Worker in the Columbus, Ohio LDS Temple and he loved serving in the Temple.
Dale had a fervent testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and his Savior’s atonement. Dale never missed an opportunity to bear his testimony to anyone who would listen. Dad loved his scriptures and was a veracious reader who literally had an amazing general knowledge base of many subjects, especially as it pertains to science, engineering, all things HAM radio [K8WKM], technology and the outdoors. Another one of Dale’s passions in life were his animal companions. He loved all animals, particularly his dogs Tosha, Belle, Mitzi, Corkey, Taffy, Honey, Maggie and Nikki.
Dale was a loving, dedicated husband, father and servant, and he always made time for his family to coach his kids, play ball or catch or to have a family cookout. His truest joys in life were his family and his friends at church both in Utah and Ohio, and he always placed them first in his life despite working many hours to provide for his family.
Dale was preceded in death by his sweetheart and Eternal Companion, Barbara in January of 2003, and he is now blissfully and peacefully reunited with her after nearly 21 years since her passing. Dale and Barbara have 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who have brought them much joy in life and they look forward to spending the eternities together with their family. Families are Truly Forever…
