Dan Lewis Barker's Obituary
Dan Lewis Barker passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and two sons on September 8, 2022 after a valiant fight against liver cancer. He was born on February 16, 1955 to Leonard William Barker and Juanita Scott Barker in Roy, Utah.
Dan grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School. As a young man Dan always knew he’d marry someone from far away but little did he know that when he offered a beautiful woman from Iran a ride on a rainy day, he had met his future wife. On April 18, 1977 he took the hand of Farzaneh Ali Ahmadi in marriage and they started their life in Ogden where they would build a family and spend their next 45 years together.
While outside the home, Dan was an entrepreneur. His favorite businesses were the car dealerships he owned. First and foremost, however, Dan was a family man who prioritized family first until even the last moments of his time on this earth. And not only did he provide and protect his family, he tirelessly supported his children as they grew up and built lives for themselves. Unsurprisingly, once he started having granddaughters, his life was brightened just a little more as he would spend many a day tending, playing, teaching, and spoiling each new grandchild that arrived.
Dan also loved nature and water. Most mornings he would go outside to fill the bird feeders with seed and also lay out food for the squirrels that played in the yard. And when it came to water, Dan just loved to get in the water at any opportunity; whether it be at the ocean, lake or random swimming pool, he loved playing in the water. In fact, during his last weeks, it was swimming in the pool where he found the most comfort and felt like himself. Dan was sweet, supportive, fun, and caring. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Dan are his wife, Farzaneh; his two sons, Amirali and Aubrey (Marci) Barker; his brothers, John Lee (formerly married to Rebecca), Scott, Evan, Lane, and John; his sisters Margie, Carol, Diane, Guity (in law) and Pari (in law); his four beautiful granddaughters Leila, Lexi, Liz, and Leah; and many nieces and nephews, including Amir Norton and Sarvanez Maisak, whom he loved as if they were his own children.
Dan was proceeded in death by his parents and three siblings, Brian Barker, Stephen Barker, and Rebecca Lee. A celebration of life in Dan’s honor will be held on October 6, 2022 at 6 PM at the LDS church located at 5735 Crestwood Dr, South Ogden, UT 84405.
