Daniel Francis Cameron

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4 Daniel Francis Cameron, 57, was freed from the pain and sickness of cancer and ran joyfully to the healing arms of his savior, Jesus Christ. He passed away peacefully at home, with his wife beside him, in the early morning hours of March 5, 2025. He would always say that’s how he’d want to go, and that wish was granted. He was born on May 16, 1967, to Sharon Joy (Buckway) and Daniel Glynn Cameron. Danny was the youngest of 5 children his parents had together during their marriage, which included siblings Tammy, Danene, Richard, and Greg. After his parents divorced, his mother married Richard Furniss. From this marriage Danny became a big brother to siblings Beckie, Ryan, and Jenny. His father also remarried and through that marriage to LaWana they added sister Jill and stepbrother Scott. At the tender age of 16 Danny met a little 15-year-old red-headed girl at school. The sparks flew and the bond between them grew fast and furious. They became inseparable and on July 27, 1985, he married that little red-headed girl, Diana Lynn Howell. At just 18 and 17 years old they were told by some that it would never work. But God said it would, and so it did. Their marriage was truly a once-in-a-lifetime love story and together they were blessed to bring 4 beautiful kids into the world. On August 12th, 1986, they welcomed a daughter, Kimberly Lynn. On December 10th, 1987, they had their first son, Daniel James. On November 6th, 1989, they welcomed their second son, Justin Allen, and on May 6th, 1993, another daughter was born, Alisha Danielle. He was a hero to his boys and his girls were daddy's girls through and through. Danny was a very present and hands on dad and he loved his kids beyond measure. He could be tough at times when needed, but he was truly a softie at heart. He was always a hard worker and did whatever he needed to do to provide for his family. His wife and children were the biggest priority in his life, and he was so proud of the family he and Di created through their amazing love story. And that love story only got better. About 13 years ago Danny took on a new title that was his favorite. The title was Papa. He was the proudest Papa to 9 sweet grandbabies, with another on the way! Those babies brought so much joy to his life! He loved to brag about them to anyone and everyone and the love and pride he felt for them was obvious. His grandkids will always know the love their Papa had for them. His family will honor him and keep his memory alive in each of their hearts and lives, so they'll always know him. He will continue to live on through them. What an amazing legacy he's leaving here in this world! Danny lived a full life and enjoyed many things. Priceless memories were made with family vacations, Sunday dinners, family time hanging out around the pool, time spent at the family property, Vegas trips, and Wendover concerts and trips to name just a few. But one of the things he most loved to do was crash cars. From a young age he would watch his older cousin, Steve Carroll, drive in demolition derbies and he knew it was the kind of fun he wanted to try himself one day. When he was finally able to get that first car and drive in his first derby, he was hooked. So, 777 was born and for over 25 years the derbies were a big part of his life, as well as his family's life! His 2 boys grew up sharing their dad's love of the derbies and they now carry on the derby driving tradition for their dad. Cameron’s Crushers! Danny worked a few different jobs early on in life before landing in the career he was meant to be in. Sales. He was a true salesman by nature, and he excelled at it. If someone could sell ice in Alaska it would be him! He spent 26 very successful years working at Hertz Car Sales in Layton. He made quite a name for himself and built many strong friendships over the years through the car business. Many of those friendships were with his customers who would return again and again to buy their cars from "Dan the Man". His outgoing nature and big, friendly personality were a big part of the reason he was so successful. His loss is a huge loss in our lives because he is so loved by so many, and he impacted so many lives for the good. Family was everything to him and he cherished the memories and the close family bonds he made. He never gained "in-laws" through marriages, only more brothers and sisters, an extra mom and dad, more sons and daughters, and extra nieces and nephews, because he never felt the term "in-law" applied to the relationships he had with them. They were family in every sense of the word. He especially treasured his relationship with his other "mom". He loved his mother-in-law immensely and truly enjoyed the extra time spent with her over the last few years after the passing of his father-in-law. Danny is survived by: Di, his loving wife, soulmate, and best friend of over 40 years. His 4 children and their spouses (who he loved as his own)- Kimmie (Scott) Christensen, DJ (Jacquie) Cameron, Justin (Morgan) Cameron, and Alisha (Logan) Kotkas. His precious grandchildren- Johnee, Kolter, Ellie, Willa, Spencer, KJ, Maddelyn, Lilly, Ivy, and a baby girl due in September. They lit up his life! His siblings (and extra siblings he loved as his own) -Tammy Cameron, Danene (Rick) Fowler, Richard (DeeDee) Cameron, Beckie (Jason) Reisen, Ryan (K'Leena) Furniss, Jennifer Furniss, Jill Davila and Scott Cole. His wife's siblings that he also loved and considered his own- Lisa (Dave) Webb, Jim (Melissa) Howell, Ron Howell Jr, and Corey (Steph) Howell. His sweet mother-in-law that he loved as his own mother, Marguerite Howell. His stepmother-LaWana Cameron. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly, and who he loved dearly as well! He is now enjoying a heavenly reunion with family and friends that have gone before him, including his loving mother Sharon, his dad Dan, his brother Greg, his stepdad Richard, his father-in-law Ron, and a nephew, Mike Vu.
