Daniel Joseph Keenan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 surrounded by his beloved wife Helen, devoted niece Cathy, and great-nieces and nephews. Dan was born on March 22, 1941 in Barberton, Ohio to Thomas F. Keena Read Obituary
It’s Father’s Day 2024 and I’ve finally decided to comment here. Dan was “survived” by me self, his son, and a daughter too.
I hope he is truly resting in peace and knows that I always loved him - just wish I would have had the opportunity to say it to him one last time.

I first met Dan at Fort Gordon, GA in 1966 when I was a PFC and he was a 1Lt. We were both cast in the USO's production of "The Fantastics." I was the father of the girl, and Dan was "El Gallo." His voice was strong, mellow, and wonderful to listen to. We became good friends, despite the rank difference. When I went to OCS, Dan was my company XO and my mentor. He and Helen stayed with us in Florida for a while and then they moved on. Dan was the kind of person you could trust, a good man with a great heart and a great voice. Dan, you will be missed. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
In 1971 & '72, Dan was a captain in the U.S. Army, and headed up a wildly talented and, some would say, wildly crazy join service unit at the American Forces Radio and Television Service station on the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan. I think he spent most of his time calming the frazzled nerves of senior officers upset with the nutty things we did on TV. ArmY, Navy, Air Force & Marines, many of us have stayed in touch over the last 50 years, some of us carving out broadcast careers built on our days working for Dan. He was our boss, yes. And he was our commander. But he was our friend too. Here's to you, Captain!
I could never forget Dan, he's our big brother and our hero! A very good kind man. We love and miss him immensely. He told me once that he wanted "that's a wrap" on his tombstone. Thanks for the kindness and humor.
