Some of my dearest memories from my childhood involved my uncle Dan. We loved to go to his house to play games. It was a special event for us and he was a willing host. He also was the rich uncle who had his own VCR, back when that was cutting edge and a big deal. Movie nights became a cherished ritual at uncle Dan’s with aunt Kris.
Uncle Dan tried to teach me guitar and I loved to hear him play and sing.
Mom frequently found a way to make service a part of Christmas, and that often included uncle Dan. I’ll never forget the year she was so excited to get a $100 Christmas bonus and decided we should use it to get uncle Dan a Christmas tree and some gifts. I remember hiding gifts in his step and racing away so he wouldn’t find us.
As I grew older and moved away, I didn’t see much of my uncle Dan. But, I’ll never forget the memories and impact he had on my life. I’m very sad that he is gone and pray special blessings of comfort on his family.
