Daniel Henry Peterson's Obituary
Daniel “Danny” Henry James Peterson, father of six and grandfather of one (plus another on the way), died in his home unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on May 6, 2025 in Midvale Utah. He was born on March 9, 1974, in Portland, Oregon to Daniel Allen Peterson and Elizabeth Althea Taylor [deceased]. He was the eldest of seven children.
Danny grew up in Troutdale, Oregon where he attended Reynolds High School. His favorite class was seminary at which he excelled in. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a passionate patriot which led him to enlisting in the United States Army as well as working as a civilian recruiter following his discharge. Later in life, Danny attended Salt Lake Community College and Utah Valley University in Utah. He also attended the Police Academy in Provo Utah. Danny was skilled in many trades; however, his favorite role was simply ‘Dad’.
On January 1st, 1997, Danny married Edith Hammond. Together they had his only daughter, his ‘princess,’ EmmaLee Elizabeth-27. Though their marriage was brief, they shared cherished time with EmmaLee. Danny later married Karen Zerkle on December 27th, 2003 with whom he had his pride and joy, their five sons- Logan Daniel Allen-20, Wyatt Paul Orrin-18, Hunter Gordon Thomas-14, Connor Benjamin Javon-12 and Owen Alexander Lee-10. This marriage eventually dissolved.
Danny had a great love for his friends and family. He poured himself into his children; whom he described as the best contribution he made to this world. His generous nature always remained steadfast, giving to others even when he had little himself. He was a pillar of strength and rugged manliness to those that knew him.
Danny is survived by his father and stepmother, Daniel and Gina Peterson, three brothers- Jesse, Jacob and Joseph Peterson; three sisters- Rachel Wallace, Maegen Adams and Ariel Peterson; Three Stepbrothers, Jack, Joseph and Mike D’Ottavio; his daughter and son-in-law- EmmaLee and Brandon Harrison; and five sons- Logan, Wyatt, Hunter, Connor and Owen Peterson ; and his grandson- Liam Boberg.
A viewing and memorial service will be held at Premier Funeral Services (67 E 8000 S, Midvale, Utah 84047) on May 19th, 2025 at ten o’clock in the morning. A burial and veterans honors will follow, located at Valley Memorial Park and Funeral Services (4400 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah 84120) at one o'clock in the afternoon.
