Daniel Scott Richardson's Obituary
Daniel Scott Richardson, “The King of Kindness”, delightful, fun, creative genius, wonderful Dan The Man! Danno died on August 20, 2018 and must be the most missed husband, son, brother, uncle, dad, nephew, cousin the earth has ever said goodbye to.
Dan had contagious laughter that delighted everyone. You always felt uplifted by Dan. He loved to have fun and enjoyed life the most when he was helping someone else to have fun and smile, too. Whether it was a BBQ or dinner, a dance party, a surprise baked treat, a funny quote—Dan was almost always about the business of making life more pleasant for other people.
Dan was the most delightful man to reminisce with. He remembered everything with a funny twist and made even life’s hardest moments enjoyable to think about.
Dan was devoted to his family. Everything he did, he did with the intent to make life nicer for the people he loved most. Dan has always been this way. When someone set a goal he was their biggest cheerleader. He loved to see people accomplish their goals.
Anything he did, he did well. Dan learned from his dad how to do electrical work and amazingly taught himself how to do even the most complicated electrical jobs. It seemed there was nothing Dan was not able to learn how to do. Daniel was exceptionally creative and talented, sewing his first pair of slippers at age 5.
Elder Renlund recently said “I believe the vast majority of cases, we will find these individuals lived heroic lives and that suicide will not be a defining characteristic of their eternities.” We believe Dan did live a heroic life and are grateful to know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is not limited in any way.
The walls of his home are full of pictures of his loved ones, who love him back. Dan is survived by his loving, supportive, and champion husband Brandon, step-children Rachel, Hannah, and Jordan, Scott and Kim Smith (parents), his siblings Sam (Samantha), Ammon (Tera), Lizzy (Matt), and John (Lia) as well as his nieces Charity, Lucy, Penny, and Lola and nephews James, Jeffrey, and Lincoln, all of whom love, adore, admire, and greatly miss him. Dan is also survived by his dogs that he loved who loved him back, Super Bolt and Lady Starbuck.
All are welcome and wanted at a funeral service to be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the 33rd Ward LDS Chapel located at 455 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be from 9:00-10:30 with the service to begin at 11:00. We will be looking forward to receiving hugs and love from the many, many people who loved our dear Daniel and who love us. Thank you to all who have supported and loved Daniel through all that life brought to him.
If you have a moment, please help us process our grief by writing down a happy memory of Daniel. We will have a basket at his service to collect these cherished memories and will take delight in learning new things about Dan.
