Daniel Dee Wilkins

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Psalm 30:5) Daniel Dee Wilkins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, age 76, passed away on May 2, 2024, due to complications of dementia and Parkinsons disease. He was born on the 13th of September 1947, in Austin Texas. He attended high school at Washington High School in Fremont California. After high school he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Cumorah Mission in Up State New York. He loved New York and the people he was able to meet and teach. He grew to love teaching the words of Christ out of the Book of Mormon and read from those pages nearly every day of his life. From that study he developed a firm testimony of the Restored Gospel and of the Prophet Joseph Smith. He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and was deployed to Vietnam, where he was a radio operator. Dan married his sweetheart, Louann, in 1971 in the Oakland Temple. They began their lives together in Hayward, CA, then moved to Provo, UT, to pursue his education. Dan’s professional career began in 1976, when he was given the opportunity to work in the technology field as a purchasing agent. He honed his skills at Eyring Research, Word Perfect and Novell, in contract negotiation, purchasing and logistics. He was also a tech support professional for Convergys and Ancestry. While serving in the young men's and scouting organizations, Dan was proud to have completed his Woodbadge training and cherished the experiences he had and relationships that were formed. Dan is proceeded in death by his loving parents, Guy and Norma Wilkins. He is survived by his wife, Louann, and children: Amy (Chad) Loveall, Ruth (Kelly) Cuell, Tim (Kari), Susanna (Gared) Dittmar, and Joshua (Laura), and his siblings: David (Judy), Kathy Sare, Guy (Sue) and Michael (Kim). We are truly a blessed family to have Dan as a husband, father and grandfather, brother and friend. The last few months of Dan’s life was difficult, but he fought the good fight for many years against the ravages of Dementia and Parkinsons Disease. Our family will always be grateful for the medical staff at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at the Ashford Assisted Living for their tender care of Dan the last six months. We are also very grateful for the love and assistance provided by members of the Saratoga Hills 1st Ward. Services will be held on Thursday, May 9th, at the Saratoga Hills 1st Ward Chapel, at 776 Lighthouse Dr, Saratoga Springs, UT, at 11:00 AM. There will be an opportunity for family and friends to express their love and condolences prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT.
