Darel Hans Hansen's Obituary
Darel Hans Hansen passed away May 21st, 2015 at the Veterans Home in Payson Ut. He was born November 12, 1925 to Mathias and Hattie Iverson Hansen in Tremonton UT and was one of 9 children.
He is survived by four children Sandra Blamires (Craig), Ronald, Randy(Marie), Chris (Michelle, Candace), 21 grandchildren, and 42 great granchildren. Darel was preceeded in death by his wife, parents, 8 siblings, and his grandsons Jesse and Noah.
Darel spent his early childhood in Bear River City, UT, and moved to Salt Lake City when he was 11. He graduated from West High, joined the marines at 17, and spent time in the pacific theater during world war II. After returning from the war Darel met his sweetheart Mary Jeanne Marcroft and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended the University of Utah for two years and studied drafting. He designed houses and a builder took his plans and built a subdivision with them. Darel worked for the Postal Service as a clerk and supervisor for 35 years. He joined the Air Force Reserve, and was activated during the Korean Conflict. Darel loved to tell stories about the war and where he had been. He loved seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed building and was happy with a hammer in his hand. Darel loved to travel with Jeanne to Europe and Hawaii.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30th, 2015 the Fairoaks Ward, 586 E 8400 S, Sandy UT. There will be a viewing prior to services from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
We would like to thank Canyon Creek Memory Care facility while he was in their care. Our thanks also to the staff at The Veterans Home in Payson, UT for their love and care provided Darel for the last 9 months of his life.
