In Montgomery, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and eventually moved to Utah in the early 1970’s, where she met and married Gregory Leo Faye, in 1975. Darlene and Greg raised four children over the next 14 years as Greg served in the United States Air Force. They were stationed in Wyoming, North Dakota, Panama, and Arizona, where Greg retired in 1999. Greg and Darlene divorced in 2002 and Greg passed away in 2003. Darlene eventually moved to Utah, where she lived from 2009 to 2023.
Darlene loved to sew, spend time talking with family and friends, study the scriptures, and work in her garden. She was known as a fun person, a storyteller, a devoted Christian, and a good neighbor. She loved all her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with each of them.
She is survived by her four children: Kristin Singh of Spanish Fork, UT; Angela Evertsen of Anderson, IN; Brian Faye of Spanish Fork, UT; and Ashley Vanckerkoven of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister, Colleen Diaz of Brandon, FL; as well as 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
