Darrell Eugene "Purple" Greener's Obituary
Darrell Eugene Greener aka PURPLE
Born June 10, 1932 to James and Irene Greener.
After living a long fun and full life with us, he went on to another adventure March 5, 2021 at the age of 88
While stationed at Fort Ord in California during the Korean war, He married his high school sweetheart Wilma Jean Snow on Feb 5, 1953.
Before being drafted into the army he graduated from Carbon High school 1950. He was very active in baseball and basketball. He was also a drummer for the high school marching band. His love for drums was evident in the many performances by the drum and bugle corps competitions he would attend in Utah.
Darrell graduated from University of Utah June 1957 with a BS degree hence why he became a Top Salesman for both Carpenter Paper Company and Dixon paper Company. He was the Vice President of Carpenter Paper and retired from Dixon. He received many awards and acknowledgements. Dad could sell you anything. Such a charmer.
Darrell loved coaching little league baseball, playing tennis (wicked serve), going boating ( could out ski all of us kids) , traveling, cheating at cards and killing morning glory.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Wilma Jean.
Children: Tad William Greener, Cindy (Stuart) Hatanaka-Anderton, and Ron Eugene (Analisa) Greener.
16 grandchildren (his little league of nations) and 18 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Jeane Irene Larsen, his parents and siblings.
There will be a viewing 12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Premier Funeral Services 67 East 8000 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Those wishing to join us for his graveside service it will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm the same day at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2350 East 1300 South Salt Lake City, Utah.
And since it isn’t April 10th you all gotta wear a mask.
