I knew him simply as Br. Pope we served in the Draper Temple together, he always had a smile, and as far as know he never missed a day serving in the Temple. A delight to talk with oh how he could tell a good story. Godspeed to his family.
I met Mr. Pope working at Costco. He would make sure to find me every time he came in. Always had a hug and kiss on the cheek for me. He often boasted with pride over his wife's talent for Tole painting and said he would show me a picture of the beautiful hutch she had painted. One day I was working at membership and through the door I could see this short man trying to carry this very large framed art through the parking lot in to the building. It was of the hutch! Sometimes we would share a lunch in the break room. Mr. Pope was truly a very special friend to me.
Keola and I became friends with Myron (as he asked us to call him) and Hella at the beginning of "Lining Traditions Festival " held every May 40 years ago. They were like grandparents to our young children. Their love of the Lord emulated the type of people they are. Myron reproduced hundreds of bookmarks with one of the pictures Hella painted of the Saviour. Had them laminated and handed them out up until the Last little bit. After Hella's passing, Myron gave all the unfinished fleece material Hella had to my husband to finish into blankets and lap covers. He ask him to place these where needed the most. There are hundreds of blankets out and about with young, teen, and older who received love from the Pope and Ohumukini family. "Charity never faileth!" Dear friend I will miss you. It was an honor to meet Grandpa Darwin Myron Pope back in 2022. When we first spoke, he asked where I was from, and I told him I was an international student from Uganda. He immediately showed genuine concern for my well-being. Later, when I secured an internship in the Salt Lake area, he asked if I had a place to stay. When I said no, he warmly invited me to live with him.
Living with him became an unforgettable chapter of my life. He shared his wisdom, his kindness, and his stories, teaching me lessons that went far beyond words. One of the greatest truths I learned from him was simple but powerful: never quit.
I had the chance to meet Myron with my kids in 2014 in Sandy.
We really enjoyed the time and surely will miss him, he was a special person.

We always think of the lovely visits of Myron, also together with Hella, here with us in Kalletal/Germany. We are very grateful for these beautiful moments.

I appreciated hearing Myron's testimony of Jesus in church. He also had insightful comments in Sunday school. I also loved how he gave people bookmarks with a picture of Jesus on it. Deepest condolences sent to his family.
