Daryl Lee Romrell's Obituary
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Daryl Lee Romrell on August 7, 2025, after a lifelong battle with mental illness.
Daryl was born on July 19, 1973, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Sunday Mae Catten and Daryl Lynn Rees. He was the youngest of three children. From a young age, Daryl had a grand sense of adventure and a fearless spirit. He was always eager to try something new—even if it wasn’t the safest or smartest choice.
Daryl was well known for his fun-loving, sarcastic personality and his adventurous spirit. He was often the life of the party and the first to accept a dare, yet also the first to drop everything to help someone in need. Daryl loved hard and lived hard for much of his life. He adored the ocean and would have gladly lived on the beach, snorkel and fins by his side. Above all, his greatest joy was being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Michelle; four children: Chandler (Nicole) Betancourt, Chanel (Day) May, Josh (Gabriella) Gailey, and Paige Romrell; and grandchildren Soleil, Ambrose, and Dalton. He had yet to meet, but was greatly anticipating, the birth of his next grandson, Vincent. He is also survived by his mother, Sunday; father, Daryl; sister, Heidi; brother, Jerry; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Daryl was preceded in death by the father who raised him, Jerry Catten.
Daryl has been reunited with his gracious and loving Father in Heaven, as well as many loved ones who went before him. We hope and pray that he has finally found the peace he longed for. Those of us left behind will forever carry the memories of the fun, loving, caring, and endlessly giving man he was. He will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 20, 2025, at the Spruces Campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon from 5:00–9:00 p.m.
