David Kay Barnes
May 19th, 1974 - April 10th, 2024
David passed away the night of April 10th, 2024 at Saint Mark’s Hospital after a lengthy battle with multiple health conditions that he fought through for years. David was 49 years old at the time of his death and was born to Robert Barnes and Mable May Barnes on Sunday, May 19th, 1974 at Saint Mark’s Hospital.
David grew up in Salt Lake City, working alongside his father, Robert, at Mount Olivet Cemetery throughout his teens. David spent his adult years being a husband, father, and grandfather. David’s passions in life were coaching his kids in sports, especially baseball, and being an incredible grandfather.
David is survived by the love of his life, Jamie Fisher-Barnes; his three children, Braden Barnes, Kaili (Tj) Caddell, and David J. (Sage) Barnes; his grand-children, Elijah, Grayson D., Brexlee, Skyler, Bradley, Ever, and Grayson H.; and his siblings, Debbie Barnes, Robert Barnes Jr, Linda Overduyn, Steven Barnes, and Shirley Barnes; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Barnes (2013); his mother, Mable Wilson-Barnes (2005); sister, Vivian Harman (2020); and his best friend in the whole world, Vincent “PeeWee” Velasquez Jr. (2023).
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 10 AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery (1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah) followed by a memorial service at Cottonwood Park Pavillion (1635 West 500 North).
