David Matthew Cooke's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Matthew Cooke, who passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 65.
David was born on May 9, 1961, and lived a life filled with love for his family and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He will be remembered for his caring heart, quiet strength, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved and creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.
David especially loved fishing, spending time at the Great Salt Lake and Payson Lakes, and riding three-wheelers. Whether he was enjoying the peacefulness of the water or sharing outdoor adventures with family and friends, he found happiness in nature and in the company of those he loved.
David was preceded in death by his father, William Jack Cooke, and his wife, Marylin Cooke.
He is lovingly survived by his mother, Caroline Cooke; his children, Nathan (Vicky) Cooke, Rachelle (Shane) McFarland, Katrina (Robert) Aamodt, Brandon (Margaret) Cooley, Britaney (Kenden) Huff, and Andrew Cooke; his ten cherished grandchildren; his nine brothers; his five sisters; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
David's legacy lives on through the love he gave, the values he shared, and the countless memories he created with his family and friends. His gentle spirit, warm heart, and love of the outdoors will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rice Pavilion, Liberty Park, 600 Harvey Milk Blvd., Salt Lake City, UT 84105. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to honor David's life, share memories, and celebrate the love and joy he brought to so many.
Though David is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and adventurous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
