David Philip Devlin's Obituary
David Philip Devlin 68. Born 8-16-57 At Rest 5-23-26
Following more than a month of excellent care, Dave passed away on Saturday at Odgen Regional Medical Center, Odgen , Utah. He was comforted at the bedside by his brother, Peter, of New Hampshire, his sister, Peggy Casey of Chicago, and his niece, Annie Eckles.
Dave was born and raised in the Mt. Greenwood area of Chicago. His beloved parents were the late Philip and Annie Devlin, of Chicago, who had emigrated from Ireland. Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick.
Dave attended St. Christina School and Morgan Park High School. He spent the next couple of years learning and working carpentry with his father. These skills enabled him to buy, refurbish, and sell buildings later in life. Adventurous, he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy. The service experiences allowed him to travel and gain knowledge and skills of the sheet metal and aircraft maintenance. With this experience, Dave was able to work as a contractor in the airline industry and live all over the world. But, he always called Chicago home. After 9/11, he sought and found consistent employment at Hill Air Force Base, Layton, Utah. As a sheet metal mechanic, he probably worked on more than 300 aircraftsbefore his retirement.
Since his retirement, he has enjoyed time at the local dog park with his dogs, Beckie and Ivan. A fan of the Chicago Bears, White Sox, and Cubs, he travelled back to Chicago for the 2005 World Series. A collector of many friends, he has been described as generous, crazy, fun, kind, loyal and supportive.
Dave is survived by his brothers Peter(Joannie), Jim(Cynthia), Matt (Yvonne), his sisters Eileen Devlin, Peggy (the late Jim) Casey, and Bridget(Dan) Sullivan.
Dave was the proud uncle of Matthew, Rose, Annie Eckles, Tessa and Kelli Devlin, Jim P. Casey, Bridget Casey Weber, Philip Casey, and Thomas, Peter, and David Sullivan. Dave was pleased to be Great Uncle to Koa, Naomi, Freya, Rowan, Sloane, Delaney, Riley, Evelyn, Vivienne, and wee Presley.
Services are private. A celebration of the Life of David Devlin will be announced at a later date.
