David Edward Galligan's Obituary
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Dave, age 67, completed his earthly life on Friday July 5th, and went peacefully surrounded by his family to his Heavenly Father, after valiantly battling cancer.
Dave leaves behind the love of his life, Sherri, his 6 children: Aaron/Becky, Sarah/Matthew, Nicole/Kareem, Justin/Anna, Alysia/Ryan, Garrett/Tara, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his sister April, and numerous nieces/nephews and friends.
Dave was born in Sacramento California, and graduated from James Marshall High School. He worked several years as a grocery clerk, then onto an almond factory where he met his wife Sherri. Dave liked to tell people that he met Sherri “at the nut house.” He then went on to work construction for 15 years, then was an appliance installer, working side by side with his son Justin.
Anyone who knew Dave would agree that he lived a life of service. He genuinely enjoyed helping people. Two of Dave’s greatest triumphs was overcoming his addiction to nicotine and alcohol. Because of this, he was able to be sealed to his beloved wife Sherri for time and all eternity.
Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, baking, being with his family, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He often baked delicious treats to share with others at their softball games.
Dave was known as a jokester, able to make just about anyone laugh. His last running joke he loved to tell people after his cancer diagnosis was, “I have a toomah,” in his best Arnold Schwarzenegger voice.
Dave was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain one year ago. After two brain surgeries and numerous treatments, his body could no longer endure. While we will all miss Dave fiercely, we are comforted that he is no longer suffering and in the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ.
Services will be held at the LDS church located at 4561 N Buckboard Street, Eagle Mountain, UT 84005, on Thursday, July 11th. Viewing will begin at 9:00am, followed by the chapel service at 10:00am.
