David Eugene Hansen's Obituary
David Eugene Hansen
David (Dave) Eugene Hansen, of Murray City, Utah passed away on Sunday, January 12th, 2020. Dave was born April 21st, 1940 in Britt, Iowa, to Thomas A. and Eva I. Hansen (Dunfee). He grew up in Remer, Minnesota and served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy. Wounded in Vietnam, Dave was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, and retired from active duty as a disabled veteran.
Dave is preceded in death by his second wife, Janet (of Portland, Oregon), and by his sister Phyllis (of Gilbert, Minnesota). He is survived by his first wife Ruth (of Greenville, South Carolina); by his children Vivian, Ken, Brian (Darlene), and Loree; and by his grandchildren Haley (16), Zachary (13), Isabel (13), Madilynn (11), and Christopher (4).
Dave worked as a machinist for Abex Aerospace Corporation in Oxnard, California, and later as a driver for BTS Container Services in Portland, Oregon. He was active as a band booster and a Boy Scout leader. Dave was spontaneous and always ready for adventure. He will be remembered as a good man with a great sense of humor, and a loving husband and father.
Dave’s wish was to have his cremated remains joined with those of his second wife Janet. A memorial will be held when they are both interned at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park in April 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dave’s name to the Fisher House Foundation Memorials Fund (https://fisherhouse.org/ways-to-give/#1018), which provides a place for families to stay while visiting a loved-one in a veterans hospital.
