David Joseph Mitchell's Obituary
David Joseph Mitchell, age 63, passed away peacefully Monday evening, December 26, 2022 at
10:00 p.m. at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah with his loving wife, Jennifer
Mitchell, at his side. David was born April 14, 1959 at Berkeley, California to James O’Neal and Elan Carlson O’Neal. He and his sister, Meegan, were adopted by their step-father, Gilbert Mitchell, in 1966. Dave was a mechanical engineer by trade and was employed by National Vision. He was a former employee of the Deluxe Corporation. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and especially dirt bikes. He loved NASCAR and two of his favorite drivers were Jimmy Johnson and Joey Logano. He also liked NHRA Top Fuel Funny cars. He owned a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. Dave had a great sense of humor and especially liked “Dad” jokes.
David is survived by his wife, Jennifer Mitchell, his mother, Elan Carlson, sister and brother-in-law, Meegan and Pat McCormick, son, Jeremy Tyler Friesen, daughter, Kaylee Shae Mitchell, step-daughter, Nicole Casillas, and three grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care and kindness shown to David and his family during his illness.
