Rick Douglas
From Oct 1989 thru Sept 2001 David managed Salt Lake City’s large Douglas Models (1934-1983) retail hobby store at 2065 East 3300 South. His love of railroading helped lead to the development of several in-store operating model train layouts of all shapes and sizes, delighting young and old alike as he kept them chugging along the tracks year-round.
Although the Douglas family long-since departed Salt Lake Valley and only just now (Nov 2018) found out about David’s tragic passing (I unknowingly sent him a railroad birthday card last July), I speak on behalf of each of us that he is truly missed. In spite of obstacles life threw at David, he remained upbeat and frowns quickly gave way to his impish grin and fun sense of humor.
Thanks also, David, for keeping my diabetic sister on the right track.
