David Winfield Stimson's Obituary
David Winfield Stimson died peacefully on October 11, 2015 in Orem, Utah from complications due to Frontotemporal dementia and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He fought a courageous battle for many years.
David was born on May 23, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to John Winfield and Alta Sophrona Watkins Stimson. He attended Ogden High School and studied accounting at Weber State College and later at IBS. Dave loved music and was an accomplished pianist. He played many sports and won several tennis tournaments, finding his name in the paper on many occasions. David married Charlene Eccles and were blessed with a beautiful daughter. They were later divorced. He moved to Tacoma Washington where he met and married Elaine Marie Hurlburt on August 18, 1957 and were later sealed in the Oakland California Temple. Together, they had eight wonderful children. David was a hard worker in his accounting profession. He retired as the CFO of Crystal Cream & Butter Company in Sacramento, CA. David was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions including his service as a bishop. Some of his most precious memories where the times he spent going for moonlight walks with his son Vinny who suffered severe brain damage after a near drowning accident. David and Elaine gave tireless service to their son during his entire life and were richly blessed and honored to serve him.
David was preceded in death by his son Vincent and daughter Corrine (Juan) Vasquez. He is survived by his wife, his daughters: Karen (Gary) Jay, Carri Lacy, sons: Steven (Noreen), Mark (Shauna), Jeff (Mandy - deceased), Greg and Erik, grandchildren: Cassady, Sadie, Misty, Jesse, Steven, Ashley, Tyler, Jamie, Kurtis, Raechal, Reanna, Erin, Kyle, Jessica, Daniel, Ryan, Andrew, Marissa, Joshua, Jacob and many great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Orem 4th ward chapel, 50 S. 800 E. Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior at the same location. Interment at Washington Heights Memorial Park, in Ogden, Utah, 4500 Washington Blvd
