Dave was truly a one-of-a-kind. He had an incredibly positive impact on me and my wife and we will be forever grateful. Always had that awesome smile and a laugh that could change the attitude in an entire room. Kind and generous neighbor that would never hesitate to help. Thank you for just being you. May you rest in peace and may God protect and bless all those in your family.
I'm sorry for the families loss. Bishop Thurston was our Bishop and he did a great job serving our Ward. Our family and his played together, in fact Jeff and our son Paul were best friends for years. We remember his great devotion to the Gospel of Christ. His passing causes me to reflect on my relationship with God and others. Dave will be missed by those who knew him, but we can reflect on our memories of our friendship with him.
Our condolences: The Hunter family
Brother Thurston was a favorite seminary teacher of mine at the Jordan High School Seminary. I think the thing that made the greatest impression on me was a period of time when a young man in our class was rude and argumentative on a number of occasions that immediately brought a cold silence into the class with all eyes focused on Brother Thurston to see how he would respond. His large stature and bold personality had me fearing for the life of the disruptive young man, but what could have been a argumentative and demeaning response was instead a testimony filled with love, compassion, and faith promoting confidence that the church was true. Brother Thurston was one of those men in my life who truly shaped the person I am today. I will always be appreciative of the sincere love he showed each of us, and look forward to the day when I can chat with him again! -Devon Swenson Class of 1997
