David Trujillo Carreño, known as, “La Chona,” passed away in his home, on October 22nd, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. He left behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and love that will forever be remembered by his family and friends. Born on February 1st, 1975, in a small town in Mexico. David had a rough childhood that taught him strength, perseverance, and the importance of family. He began working at just 12 years old, traveling to the United States to help support himself. At 22, through courage and sacrifice, he brought his family to the U.S. to build a better life — one filled with opportunity, laughter, and love. David was a devoted husband to his wife of 31 years, Vicky Mendez, and a proud father to five children — Miriam, David, Aidee, Alison, and Diego — as well as a loving grandfather to Noah and Sophia, who brought him endless happiness. His wife, kids, and grandkids were his greatest pride and joy. He lived for his kids and fought until his last breath to live for them. His love for his family was steady, quiet, and always shown through action. If you mentioned liking something, chances were he’d make sure it was yours the very next day. He worked hard to ensure his family not only had what they needed but made sure they had little things that brought them joy. Though his childhood had been difficult, his kids made sure his inner child was finally seen, loved, and cared for. When he got his first new bike, he was the happiest man alive — riding it around the neighborhood every chance he had. He was so happy and felt so seen and loved when he saw his bike. When he bought his truck, he also lit up like a kid on Christmas morning, proudly caring for it and taking joy in finally owning the one he’d always wanted. His truck with his biggest joy and was one of his biggest accomplishments, he felt. He was just as excited when he found a toy horse he’d loved since childhood, keeping it proudly by his bedside. It was the little things that every boy growing up wished they had, that made David so happy to receive these things in his adult life. He loved sitting outside in his chair, watching Facebook reels and laughing so hard that everyone else couldn’t help but laugh too — even when the videos weren’t all that funny. He found joy in the simplest things: a cold Mexican Coke, a Jumex or yogurt drink, his favorite Chile Verde burrito from Javier’s, a Creamie ice cream bar, and a handful of chocolate-covered raisins. These small comforts reflected his big heart and his ability to find happiness in everyday life. David wasn’t a man of many words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was generous and always ready to help anyone who needed it. Whether it was family, friends, or even strangers, he never hesitated to lend a hand. He showed his love through care, kindness, and presence — never asking for much but always giving everything he had. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, his five children, his grandchildren, and everyone who was blessed to know him. His laughter, strength, commitment, and dedication will live on forever in our hearts. His viewing will be held on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at Premier Funeral Services from 4:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. 5335 1950 W St, Roy, UT 84067 Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Monday, October 27th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. and the burial will proceed right after mass has ended. Nació el 1 de Febrero de 1975 en un pequeño pueblo de México. David tuvo una infancia difícil que le enseñó fuerza, perseverancia y la importancia de la familia. Comenzó a trabajar con tan solo 12 años, viajando a Estados Unidos para mantenerse. A los 22, con valentía y sacrificio, trajo a su familia a Estados Unidos para construir una vida mejor, llena de oportunidades, risas y amor. David fue un esposo dedicado a su esposa de 31 años, Vicky Méndez, y un orgulloso padre de cinco hijos: Miriam, David, Aidee, Alison y Diego, además de un abuelo cariñoso para Noah y Sophia, quienes le brindaron una felicidad infinita. Su esposa, sus hijos y sus nietos eran su mayor orgullo y alegría. Vivió para sus hijos y luchó hasta su último aliento por vivir para ellos. Su amor por su familia era constante, tranquilo y siempre se demostraba con acciones. Si mencionabas que algo te gustaba, lo más probable era que se asegurara de que fuera tuyo al día siguiente. Se esforzaba por asegurar que su familia no solo tuviera lo necesario, sino también pequeñas cosas que les alegraran. Aunque su infancia fue difícil, sus hijos se aseguraron de que su niño interior finalmente fuera reconocido, amado y cuidado. Cuando recibió su primera bicicleta nueva, era el hombre más feliz del mundo; la paseaba por el vecindario cada vez que podía. Estaba tan feliz y se sentía tan reconocido y querido al ver su bicicleta. Cuando compró su camioneta, también se iluminó como un niño en la mañana de Navidad, cuidándola con orgullo y disfrutando de finalmente tener la que siempre había deseado. Sentía que su camioneta era su mayor alegría y uno de sus mayores logros. Se emocionó igual cuando encontró un caballo de juguete que había amado desde niño, y lo guardaba con orgullo junto a su cama. Eran las pequeñas cosas que todo niño de pequeño deseaba tener las que hacían que David estuviera tan feliz de recibirlas en su vida adulta. Le encantaba sentarse afuera en su silla, ver videos de Facebook y reírse tanto que todos los demás no podían evitar reírse también, incluso cuando los videos no eran tan graciosos. Encontraba alegría en las cosas más sencillas: una Coca-Cola mexicana bien fría, una Jumex o un yogur, su burrito favorito de Chile Verde de Javier's, una barra de helado Creamie y un puñado de pasas cubiertas de chocolate. Estas pequeñas comodidades reflejaban su gran corazón y su capacidad para encontrar la felicidad en la vida cotidiana. David no era un hombre de muchas palabras, pero sus acciones lo decían todo. Era generoso y siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar a quien lo necesitara. Ya fueran familiares, amigos o incluso desconocidos, nunca dudó en ayudar. Demostró su amor con cariño, amabilidad y presencia; nunca pidió mucho, siempre dio todo lo que tenía. Su esposa, sus cinco hijos, sus nietos y todos los que tuvieron la suerte de conocerlo lo extrañarán profundamente y lo recordarán con cariño. Su alegría, fortaleza, compromiso y dedicación vivirán por siempre en nuestros corazones. Su velatorio se llevará a cabo el domingo 26 de octubre de 2025 en Premier Funeral Services de 4:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. 5335 1950 W St, Roy, UT 84067 La misa se celebrará en la Iglesia Católica de San José el lunes 27 de octubre de 2025 a las 11:00 a. m. y el entierro se realizará inmediatamente después de la misa. Será enterrado en el Cementerio Clinton de 12:30 p. m. a 3:00 p. m.
