David Jonathan Wells
February 6, 1928 – January 19, 2020
It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of David Jonathan Wells our loving grandfather, father, and friend. He peacefully passed away in his sleep, surrounded by loved ones, on January 19, 2020. He was the eldest son born to Charles Albert “Bert Wells and Sarah R. Cox on February 6, 1928 and a true son of the Mormon Pioneer’s through his paternal side of the Heber C. Kimball Company. David was a kind and generous man who loved his family and never turned away someone in need. He was an active member of the LDS church and served his community in any way that he could. We honor his service in the United States Airforce and recognize his civilian work at Hill Airforce Base as the Directorate of Procurement and Production as well as a car inspector for the Ogden Union Railway Company. His love of golf won him several awards and trophies as he entered and organizing several Hill Airforce Base Golf tournaments. In his later years, you could find him sitting in his chair reading a newspaper while watching a golf tournament on tv, or, taking a walk with his beloved wife Velma Ruth Burt Davis Wells, before she passed away in 2016. Many neighbors remember the sweet way they held hands as they strolled up the street waving at anyone they might know. David leaves behind family and friends who loved him dearly and who will miss his witty sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye.
