Deanne Alice Goodfellow Copenhaver's Obituary
Deanne Alice Goodfellow Copenhaver, age 80, passed away on December 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 16, 1943 to Dale Albert Goodfellow and Lois Florence Palmer Goodfellow. She married her best friend Richard Wayne Copenhaver on September 17, 1969 and was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Denver, Colorado Temple on September 17, 1988.
Deanne graduated from South High School in 1961. She lived in the Sugar House area until attending Brigham Young University for two years. After working for Kennecott Copper for 14 years she was able to be a stay-at-home mom which was always her dream. She loved being a wife and mother above all else. Her husband’s career transferred them to Denver, Colorado and then to Houston, Texas before retiring in Lehi, Utah. After retirement they were able to take many road trips which took them to every state (except one). They had a great time exploring the back roads of this beautiful country. They served a Service Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints via the Red Cross by interviewing veterans and submitting their stories and history to the Library of Congress. She had a great love and appreciation for WWII veterans. Many vacations were spent attending “The Band of Brothers” reunions all over the country.
Deanne was a faithful, life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in all auxiliaries (ward and stake). Her testimony of the Savior never wavered as she loved the Lord and His son with all her heart. She also served as a temple worker in the Houston Texas Temple.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and her favorite counted cross-stitching. She loved to read the paper and complete all the puzzles. Her greatest legacy is her family. She loved being a wife and mother and nothing was more important. She loved life and would often express that she loved every second of every minute of every hour of every day and had no regrets in life. Her home was always a warm welcoming place, a place of love and acceptance. She actively sought to create memories of happiness and peace for her children and their friends. She loved decorating her home, especially the basement with 19 framed Coca-Cola puzzles and collected many other Coca-Cola memorabilia while traveling throughout the country, plus receiving many Coca-Cola gifts from family and friends. She loved decorating for all holidays, especially Christmas which included six Christmas trees.
Deanne was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sheron Hoggan. She is survived by her sister Eileen (Mel, deceased) Luker and brother, Brian (Colleen) Goodfellow. Also surviving is her husband, Richard, children Todd (Christie) Copenhaver, Kandice (Troy) Morgan, and step-daughter Terri (Mike,
deceased) Rodeback. She loved her grandchildren Ashlynn, Matthew, Brooklynn, Erica and Whitney and also her step-grandchildren April, Jessica (deceased), Bradley and Danielle and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Spring Haven Ward in Lehi, Utah located at 2261 W 1500 N. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
