Debra Smith Odasso's Obituary
Debra Smith Odasso, 67, of Lehi, Utah, died on July 31, 2022. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Daughter of the late Leonard Russell Smith and Faye Aldine Strouse, she was born on November 3, 1954. Debra was a 1972 graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, where she was a cheerleader and flute player. Her love of dancing and music continued throughout her life, from the dance recitals and competitions of her youth to participating in community theater productions with her children. Debra attended graduate school at University of Pittsburgh, earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1979. She went on to work as a pharmacist in Brookville, Pennsylvania until her retirement in 2017, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, active in the community in roles ranging from Young Women’s President to playing the piano during services. She gave her time generously to others, volunteering at the Brookville Food Pantry. Debra enjoyed her life’s day-to-day pleasures—shopping online, drinking iced mocha, watching cooking shows, listening to the Beatles and BTS, and playing Pokémon GO. Survivors include five children, AJ Odasso (Rebekah Rosa), Bradley Odasso (Kim), Jenna Anderson (Travis), Maria Cannon (Matt), and Alyce Odasso (Joshua Crawford); brother, Gregg Smith (Valerie); two nephews, Andrew and Alex Smith; a great-grandnephew and thirteen grandchildren. Debra’s family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Chipman and the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists, Marianne Sivert of iCare Home Health and Hospice, Jared Fairbanks of Premier Funeral Services, Chris Odasso of Willig Funeral Home and Cremation Services, and the many friends and family who have extended support and prayers. Friends are invited to the Snow Springs Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1801 W 700 S, Lehi, UT 84043) on Wednesday, August 3rd for a viewing from 9:30am-10:45am, followed immediately by the funeral service from 11:00am-12:00pm.
