DeLyle Howes Allsup
February 24, 1943 – June 4, 2017
DeLyle was born on February 24, 1943 in Junction, Piute, Utah to John Taylor and Florence Norma Johnson Howes. She was the fourth born of six children; Norman Taylor (deceased), Fontella (David) Hunt (both deceased), Shirley (Russell) Lee, John Gerald (Sandra) (both deceased), Roger (RuthAnna).
DeLyle attended Ruth, Nevada grade school and White Pine High School in Ely, Nevada for 3 years then graduated from Piute High School in Circleville, Utah.
Following graduation, she obtained employment in the genealogical department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Here she developed a love for, and a knowledge of research which lasted throughout her life. While living in Salt Lake City she met Leonard Bufard Allsup. They were married in the Manti temple on September 4, 1964. To this union was born 10 children; Trent (Lisa) Allsup, Drew (Kari) Allsup, Brooke Allsup, Blayne (Kim) Allsup, Amber Allsup, Tracey (Eric) Whitehead, Tara (Billy) Priddis, Shadd Allsup, Dahllyn Allsup, Aaron (Amanda) Allsup.
DeLyle was talented in music, singing and handwork of all kinds, such as crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing. She played the piano and organ and enjoyed playing in a dance band while in high school and shortly following. She was an avid reader of the classics and all good books. She developed the skill of making porcelain dolls and figurines, from pouring, firing, painting, stringing, setting eyes and wigs to dressing them with hand crocheted or sewn clothes. Leonard enjoyed working with clay pottery along side her.
DeLyle had a living and abiding testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. She was active throughout her life, serving in many callings. Her most loved calling was as a Family History Consultant where she worked tirelessly in researching names to have ordinances performed for them, especially on the Allsup lines. She and Leonard served a mission in the Texas Fort Worth mission from Jan. 2007 to Oct. 2008.
Following many moves to Texas, New Mexico, and back to Utah they settled in Orem, Utah in August of 1985 where Leonard taught school in the Jordan school district.
DeLyle’s greatest love was for her family. She leaves a posterity of 29 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the LDS Park 2nd Ward chapel, 114 South 400 West, Orem, Utah, with a viewing prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
