Dene Martin Olsen
Dene Martin Olsen, 94, passed away peacefully in his home August 8, 2017. Dene was born November 8, 1922 to Harvey M and Ann E Groom Olsen in Ucon, Idaho. Dene married Dorothy Smith April 11, 1947. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. In January 1943 the US Army called upon Dene to serve. After 18 months overseas he continued his service at Fort Douglas Utah (where he met “Dottie”Smith) until 1946.
Dene was an electrician/manager for Elder Electric from 1947 to 1972; self employed since 1972.
As ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple, Dene and Dorothy served two early mornings a week for 40 years. As a sealer Dene was blessed to know and love countless couples as they began their eternal journey together.
Dene is survived by his wife of 70 years; son Rocky M Olsen; grandchildren Rocky M (Abigail) Olsen Jr, Cydne R Olsen: great-grandchildren Patience, Bella, Rock III; sister Shirlee Dastrup, brother Dale B (Carol) Olsen; many generations of nieces and nephews whom he loved. Preceded in death by his daughter Tonya Lynne Olsen; sisters LaRue Olsen, Reva Christensen and Lorna Monson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Canyon Rim Second Ward, 3100 East 3000 South, Salt Lake City, Utah where a viewing will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and prior to services Thursday from 11:45 to 12:45 pm. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC, UT.
