Diane D. Holbrook's Obituary
Diane D. Holbrook
“Forever in Blue Jeans”
June 6, 1945-March 7, 2021
Diane passed away on Sunday, March 7th at the age of 75
Diane was born to Stanley Frank and Myrveldeen (Snow) Dangerfield and grew up on the Willow” D” in West Bountiful, Utah. Her early days were spent on the farm enjoying her dad’s sign shop, riding horses, gardening, collecting watercress, and evolving into the cowgirl she will forever be. She was her dad’s sidekick and he loving called her “Dute”. She loved homespun Christmas gifts, directing and producing home movies, crazy corn parties, and a good prank.
In 1963 she married Louie Pete DeLuca and had 2 daughters-Lisa and Chris,( later divorced). She married Don “Pat” Holbrook and inherited Jon and Brooke. Together Don and Diane added the caboose to their blended family-“Angie Puddin”.
Our mom was incredibly talented and creative! She could cut and style hair, draw, paint, sew, build, landscape, design and cook. She loved a project and was a hard worker. She was passionate about making dolls, Halloween costumes, school clothes-like jumpers with giant pockets and smocks with matching bandanas and our dance costumes. We had matching vinyl mini-skirts, polyester outfits, or bold floral calico for every occasion. Mom was well known for her quick wit, funny stories, intuition, and mischievous spirit. Every holiday was magical and well orchestrated. She found solace in butterflies, good movies and had a crush on Robert Redford.
She made Posh Floral infamous with her floral design, window displays and grand lobby’s at Christmas time. Her flowers were much admired and sought after. She always added a personal, creative touch that made her floral presentations unique.
Diane was preceded in death by her hero and father; Stanley, and mother; Myrvledeen. She is survived by her three daughters; Lisa (Wayne Johnson), Chris, (Keith Hogan) and Angie (Ben Shorty). Her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her siblings: Evelyn, Grant, Steve, Illene, and Gary and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mom struggled everyday with the chains of addiction. Alcoholism haunted and controlled her and eventually caused her death. Her disease robbed her of relationships, dignity and self-respect.
Please join us in remembering her on March 21, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Premier Funeral Services, 67 East 8000 South, Midvale, UT. Dress will be casual. We’ll be collecting written stories about our mom for a keepsake. Please bring one with you.
In lieu of flowers, plant a tree or garden, take a walk in the woods, or take a moment to appreciate all the beauty of nature and your life.
