Dib Antonio Gay's Obituary
Dib Antonio Gay, age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 26, 1936, in Campinas, Brasil, to OnDina Salgado Gay and Marco Gay.
As a young child, Dib helped support his family by selling peanuts in the streets and assisting his mother at their grocery store.
In 1964, he moved to the United States with only $24 in his pocket, beginning a journey marked by determination, resilience, and hard work. He built a life defined by dedication and love for his family. He began his career at the University of Utah, where he worked for 34 years before retiring. His commitment and steady presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
On September 24, 1966, he married the love of his life, Zilda Romualda Reis.
Dib became a naturalized United States citizen in 1996, a milestone that reflected his deep commitment to his adopted country and the life he built there.
Dib had a deep love for God and was a very social person, known for his warmth, generosity, and kindness to everyone he met. He faithfully attended South Valley Church for many years, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. He brought people together and left a lasting impact through his caring nature.
He is survived by his wife, Zilda Romualda Reis Gay; his sons, Welster Richard Gay and Alexander Roderick Gay (Deena); his grandchildren, Dana Gay, Cody Gay (Shaylin), Hagan Gay, and Ashton Gai (Abby); and his great-grandchildren, Anezia Gay, Violet Gay, and Luella Gay.
Dib will be remembered for his strength, faith, dedication, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched.
