Dominic Victor Massa's Obituary
Dominic Victor Massa, age 20, died on April 1, 2019, at his home in Cedar City, Utah.
He was born on February 17, 1999 in Provo, Utah. Dominic was the oldest of five children born to his parents Vincent and Katheryn Massa.
Dominic grew up in Provo and Orem, Utah. He graduated from Timpanogos High School in Orem in 2017. Dominic was a bright student who enjoyed reading, computers, karaoke, cooking competitions and asking tough questions. He possessed a quick wit and his dry sense of humor made it difficult to tell when he was serious or joking. He was a loyal friend. He was also especially empathic and sensitive to others who were experiencing physical or emotional pain. He did his best to provide comfort and do what he could to lessen their pain.
After high school Dominic attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, where he was studying general education at the time of his passing. He was interested in the medical field, science, and history.
Dominic is survived by his father Vincent, his mother Katheryn, his recent fiancé, Melissa Schuhmann, sisters Olivia, Sofia, Lily, and brother Joseph.
Dominic met Melissa while living in Cedar City. Melissa and Dom brought out the best in each other and were very happy in the time they were together. His family was looking forward to their union and the prospect of having a new sister and daughter in the family.
He was greatly loved and respected by his younger siblings. He was the best big brother. His brother and sisters enjoyed spending time with Dominic regardless of the activity: teasing each other, watching movies together (while pointing out plot holes) or playing games (which he frequently and blatantly changed the rules mid-game to keep things ‘interesting’).
His brother and sisters were very sad when he moved to Cedar City for school, but stuck by his side constantly whenever he came back home. Dominic made a huge, positive impact on their lives and they miss him dearly.
Dominic was growing into a mature man and was finding his place in this world when he was suddenly taken. We will miss his friendship, his compassion, his wit, his keen intellect and his love and support. Thanks to Jesus Christ’s atonement and our Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation, we know families are forever and we WILL see our son and brother again. Until that time, we will cherish the time we had with him and await the day when we will be reunited. We love you, Dominic.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, beginning with a visitation from 9:30am to 10:40am and followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 620 Heather Rd, Orem, UT 84097.
Burial will follow the funeral at the Orem City cemetery located at 1520 N 800 E, Orem, UT 84097.
In lieu of flowers, donations for his funeral expenses may be contributed by visiting any Utah Community Credit Union or through Venmo at www.venmo.com/vincent-massa
