Don DeMill Squire's Obituary
Don DeMill Squire passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 3, 2025, at the age of 80 years old. He had suffered for many years with numerous health conditions and his body did not want to fight anymore.
Don lived a life full of love and family. Everyone was Don’s friend. He could strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and be their best friend by the end of it. He loved sports, especially watching football and in his younger years he loved to play football. Some of his hobbies included fishing, Sunday drives and having complete control of the tv remote— driving everyone nuts while he flipped from one show to the next.
Don’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His time as a missionary in the French East Mission was transformative; amid beautiful experiences and heartfelt service, he discovered his lifelong passion for printing—a craft that would come to define his professional journey. His dedicated service in the Grantsville 11th Ward bishopric further underscored his commitment to community, forging bonds that enriched many lives.
He met and married the love of his life (Marcella) soon after he returned home from his mission, and they have remained devoted and in love for the past 57 years. Don had various professional jobs throughout the years from working for Bonanza airlines, being a security guard on Alcatraz Island, teaching printing to students at Evit Technical College, managing the movie theaters, along with running the old drive in theater projector back in the 80’s, and working at Dixie College as the director of printing services.
Don’s greatest treasure in life were his 5 children and they all knew how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. He would always tell them that he wanted them to be better and do better than he did in this life. He was always full of encouragement and love, no matter what life threw at us. He would give us the best advice and made sure we knew we were the most important priority to him.
As we bid farewell to Don, we celebrate a life rich with friendship, service, and an abiding love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory lives on in the laughter of his family, the community he so deeply touched, and the countless hearts he made lighter with his presence. Don survived by his wife Marcella Squire, and children: Wayne (Amy), Gaelene (Eric) Fraser, Craig (Annie), Jennie (David) Nieto, Emalee (Dan) Kofoed. He also has 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with another on the way in May.
A viewing to honor his remarkable life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30 am at 2583 E. 350 N Chapel in St. George, Utah, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
