Donald Lee Blatter's Obituary
Donald Lee Blatter passed away peacefully in his Saratoga Springs home on May 12, 2023. He was born October 4, 1942, in Salt Lake City, UT to Denver Guild Blatter and Almira Mae Mortensen. Don graduated from Orem High School in 1960. He later attended Brigham Young University, graduating with his associate degree. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New England States Mission from 1961-1963. Upon returning home, he worked for Custodis cleaning smokestacks. It was there that he met, Leslee Ann Elggren. They were married in the Salt Lake City temple on March 8, 1968. Immediately following their wedding, they left to complete dad’s military service in the United States Marine Corps. He was sent to Okinawa, Japan where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After his service was complete, Don and Leslee moved to Orem, UT where Dad started a flooring company. They eventually moved to Lindon, UT where they raised their three children: Sharon, Scott, and Lori. A career change sent Don and Leslee to Rio Rancho, NM and then to Monument, CO where Don would retire from Intel Corp. in 2006. They moved to Saratoga Springs to enjoy their retirement. Dad was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Don is survived by his devoted wife, Leslee, children: Sharon (Travis) Nelson Saratoga Springs, Scott (Teri) Blatter Pleasant Grove, Lori (Paul) Lemke Saratoga Springs. Sisters Bev Blatter and Jane (David) Harward of Eagle Mountain and brother Kevin (Kathy) Blatter of Ivins, UT. Don was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who were the absolute joy of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Rulon. The family would like to thank Jessica Rikli, RN, those with Intermountain Healthcare & Hospice, and all the doctors and nurses who took the time to care for dad during his final years. We are so grateful for all of you. A viewing will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, from 6-8pm at the Sunrise Meadows church building 947 N. Jack Rabbit Run, Saratoga Springs, UT. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11am with a viewing prior from 10-10:45am at the church. Interment at the Orem City Cemetery.
