Donald Webb Brown's Obituary
Donald Webb Brown, age 84, our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his home in Springville, Utah on July 23, 2013.
Donald was born in San Bernardino, California to loving parents, Webb and Iris Brown on February 2, 1929. He grew up with a love of sports particularly baseball. He served an LDS mission to the Eastern States from 1949 – 1951. Following his mission he served in the United States Navy as a Gunner’s mate on the U.S.S. Hamner, during the Korean War from 1953 - 1956. Upon his return he met the love of his life, Bonnie Jessie Butcher, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles temple on January 18, 1958.
Together they are the parents of seven children: Donald (Cindy) of Bellingham, WA; Vicki (Matthew) Doxey of Springville; Jeff (Debbie) of Mesa, AZ; David of Yucaipa, CA; Steve (Becky) of Mapleton; Becky (Treven) Rollins of Gilbert, AZ; and Dayna (Jason) Christensen of Gilbert, AZ.
Donald was a wonderful provider for his family working many jobs throughout his life. He was a deputy sheriff, newspaper dealer, and donut shop owner. The job he enjoyed the most came in his retirement when he delivered flowers for his sister’s flower shop. Don said he loved to see the smiles on the faces of those who received them.
Don was a devoted family man, who will be fondly remembered for his candy making and chocolate dipping.
He is survived by wife Bonnie, seven children and their spouses, 27 grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Betty Green, Virginia (JT) Rowe, and David (Raelene), many nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Eileen Hannah, brother Bill, sister Joanne Stewart, sister Kay Simmons and granddaughter Kirsten Doxey.
The family expresses gratitude to the many family and friends who visited Don during his prolonged illness as well as the devoted medical professionals who treated him with dignity and respect.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hidden Cove Chapel, 2379 East River Bottom Road, Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. preceding the funeral. Interment at the Springville Cemetery.
