Donald (Don) Rae Bellon's Obituary
Donald (Don) Rae Bellon, 86, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in West Jordan, Utah.
Don was born on November 25, 1939, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Loyal and Hazel Bellon. He was the third of four sons and spent his early childhood in Utah before moving with his family to Arimo, Idaho, as a teenager. Life on the family ranch helped shape the strong work ethic, self-reliance, and easygoing nature that would define him throughout his life. While attending high school in Idaho, he met his first wife, Nola Howe Hammon.
Don and Nola were blessed with three children: Marsha (Will) Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho; Barbara (Robert) Toler of Vernal, Utah; and Doug Hammon of Inkom, Idaho.
Don later married Merle Butler, expanding his family with her four children: Richard, Wade, Kara, and Rodney Beus. Together they welcomed two sons, Don "Buster" Bellon and Ammon Brent Bellon. Following his retirement, Don married Jean Bingham. Although their marriage later ended in divorce.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Don enjoyed a variety of careers throughout his life. He worked as both a car salesman and a shoe salesman before relocating to Washington, where he spent many years as a mechanic at Fort Lewis. His skill, dependability, and strong work ethic earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike until his retirement in 2002.
Don found his greatest joy in spending time with family. Whether camping in the mountains, fishing on a quiet lake, traveling to new places, or simply gathering around the table with those he loved, he treasured every opportunity to be together. His grandchildren knew him as a fun-loving grandpa who was always ready with a joke, a smile, or a playful tease. His quick wit and infectious sense of humor brought laughter to family gatherings and brightened the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Throughout his life, Don called Utah, Idaho, and Washington home. In his later years, he returned to Utah, where he enjoyed being close to family and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Hazel Bellon; his former wives, Nola Hammon and Merle Bellon; his brother, Loyal "Bill" Bellon; his great-granddaughter, Genevieve Toler; and his stepson, Wade Beus.
He is survived by his children, Marsha Johnson, Barbara Toler, Doug Hammon, Don "Buster" Bellon, and Brent Bellon; his stepchildren, Richard Beus, Kara Beus, and Rodney Beus; his brothers, Gerald (Nelda) Bellon of Riverton, Utah, and Nolan (Jean) Bellon of South Jordan, Utah; numerous grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Don will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering love for his family, and the laughter he shared so freely. His kindness, humor, and the countless memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Premier Funeral Services, 67 East 8000 South, Midvale, Utah 84047.
