Donald Lee Flowers' Obituary
Donald Lee Flowers, 52, of Orem, Utah, passed on April 30, 2023 after struggling with health issues for several years.
Don was born on October 10, 1970 to David Lee Flowers and Eileen Mabel Travis in Salt Lake City. Don grew up in Midvale when there were still open fields to wander and explore. After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1989, he began working with his dad learning construction, plumbing, automotive repair, and sprinkler system design and installation. Don loved being with his father and credited becoming a jack-of-all-trades to this apprenticeship experience. This time abruptly ended with his father’s death in 1992.
Don liked to work hard whether on home projects or in his various jobs which included providing technical support to AOL users and manufacturing. But his favorite job was working for Smith’s Food and Drug as a stock room/warehouse manager. Wherever he worked, he inspired teamwork, responsibility, and friendship.
In 1996, Don married April Ann Barney. They later divorced. In 2011, Don married Elizabeth (Beth) Low, first settling in West Valley, then Vernal and Orem with both working for Smith’s. Vernal put Don just where he wanted to be, close to mountains and lakes where he could keep his fishing pole and camping equipment in constant use from spring through the fall.
Don was predeceased by his parents and brothers Mike Flowers, Steve Flowers (Nancy), JT Flowers (Vicki), and Kenneth Flowers. He is survived by brothers Robert Flowers (Marie) and Tom Flowers (Stacey), and his sister Kathleen Flowers Weaver.
An informal celebration of Don’s life will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, in the outdoor pavilion at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located on 50 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. Interment will be at the Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek, Utah at a later date.
