Donald Francis Meacham's Obituary
Donald Francis Meacham, 86, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Don was born December 18, 1929 to Ivan and Celia Dean Meacham in Paul, Idaho. On September 10, 1952 he married Elizabeth Clara Feller in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they made their home in Logan, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Provo, Utah for over 63 years.
Although Don endured health issues all of his life, he never allowed the way he felt to dominate his life or compromise the things he wanted to do. Don was a building contractor in Las Vegas, Nevada and Provo, Utah where he built homes and apartments. Don had a strong work ethic and taught that principle to his children.
Don was a doer, not a talker. He expressed his love for neighbors, friends, and his children by the things he did for them. Much of his work was done without having been asked as he saw a need and tried to fulfill it. Don wasn’t interested in receiving recognition or praise for the things he did. He spent many hours serving others and helping them in their times of need. Don was a simple man, and expressed his beliefs by the things he did. He gave away much more than he ever kept for himself.
Don liked to hunt and fish, but found most of his joy in helping others.
Don and Beth raised 9 children, 3 of whom were adopted and welcomed into the family after the tragic death of his brother-in-law. Don enjoyed holding and rocking 35 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and would have delighted in the many more descendants who are on the way.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Beth, his parents, 7 siblings, a grandson, and a great-grandson. He is survived by children Linda (Jamie) Evans; Steven (Ginny) Meacham; Kent (Angela) Meacham; Jay (Jocelyn) Meacham; DeAnn (Duff) Broeker; Susan (Clarke) Woodger; Kathy (Charles) Vorwaller, Sandy (Troy) Mills; and Wendy (Mont) Erickson.
Friends may greet family members on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the LDS Edgemont 1st Ward located at 303 West 3700 North in Provo. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. and internment will occur in the Provo City Cemetery.
