My Mom used to play the piano and my sister and I would dance to the music when we were little.
My name is Gloria Nay Smart. Marie is my cousin, and she was one month older than me. Our fathers were brothers, and we lived on a farm in Parma, Idaho when Marie and I were about 4 years old. We were best friends, and cousins. We both started school there together - first and second grade. And we were baptized together. After I moved to Las Vegas from Parma, she would visit me each summer during our high school years and had such fun. We lost track of each other after we were married.
Due to a recent family search project, I was able to talk to Marie again on the phone and we shared our memories - and we each remembered them the same. Our famous one was when we were very little--we put doll furniture in a pan of milk my Mom had on the back porch. Then we put milk in our mouths and spit it all over my brother's suit that was also hanging in the back porch. We really got in trouble for that one . That story has made the rounds several times.
I feel so blessed to have been able to talk to her a month or so ago and share our love for each other and our memories. I am going to try to upload some pictures from my Memory Book. I so loved Marie. In fact, my oldest daughter has the middle name of Marie in her honor.
God bless you my sweet cousin. I'm sure you will be welcomed with open arms in Heaven.
Love, your cousin Gloria
