Doris Ward Elmer Returned to the loving arms of her Eternal Heavenly Father. September 28, 2012.
Doris was born May 12, 1926 in Brigham City, UT. She grew up in Willard, UT and moved to Clearfield, UT for her senior year of high school. She graduated from Davis High in Kaysville, UT. Most of her married life was spent in Sacramento, CA. She earned her Associates Degree from American River Jr College, Sacramento, CA. She retired from Mc Clellean AFB Civil Service in Sacramento,CA. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Doris had a deep love for the gospel and served as Primary President She played the piano and served as an accompanist in Primary, Sacrament Meeting and Relief Society. She also served in many teaching positions.
She married Lawrence Elwood Elmer Sr November 9, 1943 in Ogden, UT. They were later sealed on November 9, 2004. In the Bountiful, UT Temple, he preceded her in death.
They have 12 children, Wynnell Poindexter, Kaysville, UT; Elizabeth Ann & (Ernest Moffitt), West Jordan, UT; Lawrence Elwood Elmer Jr, preceded her in death &( Carolyn Elmer), Dallas, Tx, Bryan & (Christine) Elmer, Sunset, UT; Vickie Elmer, Ogden, UT; Chris ( & Diane) Elmer, Citrus Heights, CA; Mark &(Sue) Elmer, Sacramento, CA; Carl (& Louise) Elmer, Sacramento, CA; Trina (& Bryan) Acheson, Sacramento, CA; Mary Ellen (& Sterling) Ottesen, Orem, UT; Tammy (& Willie) Villamar, Las Vegas, NV; and Frank Elmer, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her Sister, Irleen Eddington, Clearfield, UT. She has 45 Grand Children, 101 Great Grand Children and 3 Great Great Grand Children.
Doris was a Member of the Kaysville, Barnes Park Ward, where she touched many people's hearts, without ever leaving her home. Thank you to all who took the time to come visit, it made her day. Special thanks to all the friends and neighbors and especially the Priests and Deacons that brought her the Sacrament on Sundays. She loved each of you.
The family would like to especially thank HCNU Hospice, for all the love, care and support you gave our sweet mother over the past 4 months. Without you, we could not been able to care of her at home.
In lieu of flowers donations are being accepted at Goldenwest Credit Union, Doris Elmer Memorial Fund.
Doris, Mom, Sister, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma, Aunt, Friend, she held many titles. We are all going to miss you terribly. God Be With You Until We Meet Again.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Flint Street Chapel, 200 North 1275 West (Flint St.), Kaysville, UT with a viewing prior to services from 9:00 to 10:45 am. Interment in the Willard Cemetery, 550 N Main, Willard, UT
