Doris “Carrie” Griffith Pierce June 5, 1931 – December 20, 2025
Doris “Carrie” Griffith Pierce, 94, of South Jordan, Utah, passed away on December 20,2025.Doris was born on June 5, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Oscar C. Griffith and Doris Rishton Griffith. She graduated from South High School and later from the University of Utah in 1953. On August 14, 1954, she married Lester H. Pierce in Evanston, Wyoming. They had five children together. Doris raised her family in West Jordan, Utah, and later lived in Duchesne, Utah, and Tonopah, Arizona.
Following the death of her husband, she returned to South Jordan to be closer to family. Throughout her life, Doris enjoyed sewing and especially liked making doll clothes. After retiring, she spent many hours working on family history and genealogy. She also enjoyed photography and entered her pictures in local fairs. Doris loved cats and always had a special place in her heart for them.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Jim) Gunnuscio, Connie (Paul) Crosby, and Jim(Teri) Pierce; as well as 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her sons, Henry and Gary; granddaughter, Joanie Gunnuscio; and her sisters, Barbara Mills and Gloria McCauley.
The family extends their appreciation to Legacy House of South Jordan and Symbii Hospice for their care in her final years. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at South Jordan City Cemetery, located at 10650 South 1055 West, South Jordan, Utah. May she find peace.
