Dorothy Deane Allred
January 19, 1924 – January 27, 2018
Dorothy passed away peacefully at her home in Sunset, Utah early Saturday, January 27. Dorothy was born in Evansville, Indiana and grew up on the family farm. In the early 1940’s Dorothy went to work for the federal government in Washington DC and retired from Civil Service at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
Dorothy was preceded in death by 10 siblings, her parents Bert and Bessie, and daughter Kay Allred. She is survived by a brother Jack Pipkin and nephew Gene Pruden of Evansville, IN, daughter Laura de Hermida of Sunset, son-in-law Kip de Hermida of Sunset, and two granddaughters Erica and Emily de Hermida, also of Sunset.
Dorothy loved to be in the garden, spending time doing embroidery, and involving herself with genealogy. She will be remembered for her generosity and kind wisdom that she was willing to share with all. Most of all a she was a caring Mother, compassionate Grandmother, and a good friend.
At this time the family would like to thank all those for their involvement, thoughts, and prayers in this time of sorrow.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 1st from 6 to 8 pm at Premier Funeral Services, 5335 South 1950 West, Roy, Utah (located west of the CVS Pharmacy). Graveside services will be held Friday, February 2nd at 3:30 pm at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
Our family thanks the staff of Independence Hospice Care for their kindness to Dorothy during the final month of her life.
