Dorothy Louise Scott Rich's Obituary
Dorothy Louise Scott Rich
July 12, 1964 - August 25, 2023
Our beloved mom, sister, aunt, and friend returned to live with her Heavenly Father early Friday morning after a brief battle with cancer. Her mind was ready to fight but her body thought differently. She is finally free from the pain that has afflicted her for a while now.
Dorothy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard George Scott Sr. and Lucile Giles Scott. She moved around a lot as a child and learned how to make friends easily as a result.
She has a daughter, Annicia Katherine Poots. Dorothy was a recovering addict and has been sober/clean for the last 18 years as a direct result of the love that she has for her daughter! Upon passing she received her Infinity Chip and her family is so proud of her success!
She was a kind, caring, beautiful, spunky, awesome lady. She was always a listening ear to anyone who needed one, and she was always very thoughtful. She was a sweet lady who loved her family and loved to spend time with them. She loved spending time with her great-nieces/nephews, and even babysitting them when needed.
She enjoyed spending time making beautiful dream catchers and spending hours making beautiful, beaded jewelry that she would gift to others.
Dorothy leaves behind her daughter Annicia Katherine Poots, sisters Mariann Anderson and Frances (Lori) Summarell, her brother Richard George Scott Jr. and her brothers-in-law John Anderson and Allen Summarell, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and many other people who were important to her that she also considered family.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents Lucile and George, and three 'half' sisters Carole Scott, Mary Scott, and Pat Scott.
She will be greatly missed by all!
She had a bucket list that she didn't get the opportunity to finish so her family has decided to honor her by completing as many items as possible for her.
In lieu of a funeral service her family will have a "celebration of her life" picnic (from her bucket list). It will be held Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Murray Park (296 E Murray Park Ave. Murray, UT) at 1:00pm. Bring your own food and come celebrate her with us! (Look for the purple balloons.)
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Intermountain Medical Center and Utah Cancer Specialists in Murray Utah for the great care that they gave and the amazing effort they made to keep her comfortable in her final days.
Also, thank you to Premier Funeral for their assistance at this difficult time.
Instead of flowers, please consider donating to a homeless shelter or cancer foundation.
