Douglas Karl Adamson's Obituary
Douglas “Doug” Karl Adamson, 76, of Taylorsville, Utah, passed away peacefully at the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah with family by his side on March 25, 2026.
Doug was born August 25, 1949, in American Fork, Utah, to Karl Blaine Adamson and Mary Neves Adamson. He graduated from Viewmont High School in 1967 and later served as a missionary in the California North/Central Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He continued to faithfully serve in many church callings throughout his life, with his favorites being ward mission leader and serving in the Corcoran Branch Presidency. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple and completed a Family History service mission.
Doug attended Weber State College, where he met and fell in love with his sweetheart, Patricia Darley. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 29, 1971. Doug went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Utah and dedicated more than 30 years to a career in Special Education.
Doug and Patty have been blessed with eight children, twenty-six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, and found great joy in spending time with their family. Doug’s sense of humor will be missed. He enjoyed telling corny jokes and coming up with silly rhymes to fit any situation, always followed by a memorable laugh and mischievous, twinkling smile. He was also passionate about music and enjoyed drumming along with a song or “conducting” an orchestra while listening at full volume.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patty Adamson; his children: Heather Jamison (Paul) of Rexburg, ID; Tricia Beck (Byron) of Lehi, UT; Jared Adamson (Danielle) of Rocklin, CA; Janessa Couch (Mitchell) of Lemoore, CA; Mark Adamson (Katie) of West Jordan, UT; Allyson Ashby (Dallin) of San Antonio, TX; and Adam Adamson of Taylorsville, UT. He is survived by his siblings: Ron Adamson (Rose), Vanner Johnson (Terri), Mary Ann Binks (Craig), Jay Adamson, and Rob Adamson (Sharyl).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Mary Adamson; a son, Troy Adamson; a granddaughter, Johanna Beck; a sister, Kathy Johnson, and a sister-in-law, Katherine Adamson.
