Douglas "Doug" Vernon Cowan's Obituary
Douglas “Doug” Vernon Cowan, 60, was born on July 10, 1965, to Douglas and Mary (Martinez) Cowan, in Salt Lake City, Utah. On October 13, 2025, Doug passed away at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas M. Cowan; and his grandparents, Eugene and Clara Martinez, Elmer Vernon Cowan, and Minta and Tony Larsen.
Doug was taken from us far too soon. He fought a courageous and tireless battle with his health, always pushing through for the sake of his family. His time here was spent in unwavering devotion to his wife of sixteen years, his children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Doug had a deep love for the outdoors—especially spending time on the water in his boat—and his passion for working on cars, particularly his beloved 1969 Camaro, was a true reflection of his dedication and skill. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help anyone in need, always just a phone call away. His legacy of love, dedication, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his dear wife, Vanessa Lynn Valencia Cowan; his loving children, Cassandra Davis (Nick), Maxwell Cowan, Brennan Cowan (Kiya), Katrina Warren (Chase), Jacob Gasca and Caleb “Biggs” Gasca. Doug is also survived by his mother, Mary Cowan; his siblings Gina Cooke (Brian), Maria Boyer (Patrick) and Stephanie Gull (Brian). He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on November 22, 2025, at 5958 W. Goldrush Place, West Valley City, Utah 84128
