Douglas Lawrence Mansell's Obituary
Douglas Lawrence Mansell was born on March 24, 1965, in St. Louis, Missouri to Lawrence and Judy Mansell and passed away on January 4, 2025 in Kaysville, Utah due to complications from a previous stroke.
Doug was the oldest of four children and grew up in East Millcreek. When he was 16, his family moved to Fruit Heights, UT, where he made great lifelong friends. He graduated from Davis High School and went on to attend the University of Utah, earning a degree in Communications. He served in the Johannesburg, South Africa mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Doug's professional life was diverse. He owned and operated his own real estate and mortgage brokerage company and was a licensed mediator. Later in life, Doug found joy and fulfillment as a teacher’s aide for special needs students at Olympus High School.
Doug was artistic and had a talent for cooking, stained glass, and working with his hands. He had an interest in politics and a love for Mercedes-Benz and The Beatles. He also enjoyed boating and loved dogs – especially “Joey the Wonder Dog.” In his later years, Doug spent time finding treasures at auctions, specifically furniture and rugs.
Doug faced significant challenges following a debilitating stroke in October 2021, which left him partially paralyzed and required him to live in assisted living for the last three years of his life. Despite these hardships, he never lost his quick wit, sharp mind, or sense of humor. His positive attitude inspired everyone around him and he was loved by his caregivers and fellow residents.
During these years, Doug found joy in the simple things – Bowman’s donuts, chocolate, bingo, and Fox News. His family loved visiting him and will miss spending time talking and laughing with him.
Doug is survived by his “sweetie” and life partner, Nicole Bondoc, who has been by his side and a great source of comfort. He also leaves behind his daughter Sarah (Matt) Hess and grandchildren Kya, Jamison, Vincent, and Theo; his loving mother, Judy; his siblings Lane (Molly) Mansell, Loren (Stacey) Mansell, and Maralee (Mark) Miller, as well as his former wife, Tammy Mansell. Doug is preceded in death by his father, Larry Mansell.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Whisper Cove Assisted Living who offered such great care for Doug. Their kindness brought comfort and peace to Doug and his family during his final years. The family would also like to thank Dignity Hospice for their loving support.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Doug’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, January 11 at 24 S Country Ln, Fruit Heights, UT at 1 pm. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 12 pm. Doug will be buried in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
