Dung "Don" Tien Pham's Obituary
Dung “Don” Tien Pham ended his earthly journey on April 1, 2021 after a short, but valiant fight due to health and organ complications.
Dung was the youngest of two children born to Chi Nghoc Pham and Van T. Pham. He was born May 4th, 1957 in Saigon, Vietnam. Like many other Vietnamese refugees, his parents sought a safer place they could all call home, due to the uncertainties during the Vietnam War. Overcoming amazing adversity, Dung traveled to the United States as a young 17-year-old along with his parents in search of a new life and opportunity. Through the kindness, love, generosity, and support of family and others, they ended up settling in Salt Lake City, UT. While there, Dung continued his schooling and graduated from West High School in 1976 and went on to complete a couple years of college coursework. He eventually met Sau T. Bui of Kearns, Utah and they were married on April 24, 1980 in Salt Lake City. Together they have raised their three surviving sons -- Hung (Lindsay) Pham, Tony Pham and Donny Pham. Dung had a deep love for his two grandchildren, Archer (8 years old) and Cecilia (18 months). You could see them light up his life when they would come into the room. We are so grateful for the hard work and determination with which he lived his life --ensuring a better life filled with opportunities for his future generations.
Dung is also survived by his loving sister Mai (William) Thornhill, their children Joyce Thornhill and Del (Melissa) Thornhill, their children Myah and Kyla. His sister in law Nhon (Tam) Le, their children Trinh (Brett) Lee, Cindy (Quyen) Nguyen, Michael (Kim) Le, Tru (Hazel) Le and David (Co) Le. Along with countless other cousins, great nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday April 10th, 2021. A viewing from 9:30am-10:45 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Premier Funeral Services, 67 E. 8000 S. Midvale.
