Dusty Lynelle Martineau Evans' Obituary
Dusty Lynelle Martineau Evans, 44, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 7th, 2024 in Ogden, Utah.
Dusty was born in the Old Rock House in Shumway, Arizona on June 3rd, 1980. She was the 4th child born to Ronna and Wayne Martineau. Dusty had an adventurous childhood, moving to many different places such as Ruiz Nayarit Mexico, Juneau Alaska, Bear Lake Idaho, Oahu and Kona Hawaii, and finally Ogden Utah. She grew up in a time where she was able to spend her days playing with her 7 siblings and making lifelong friends wherever she went. She had an infectious & eclectic personality and was a wild and free spirit. She must have felt like the rest of her siblings needed some livening up. She had many nicknames throughout her life including Cindy (Lauper, due to her fun sense of fashion)- courtesy of Grandma Roberta and Dusty Bug- courtesy of her best friends.
She began to gain a sense of independence early on and developed talents in singing in choirs, acting in plays, and playing volleyball. Even while staying busy, she found time to read books, some of which were very shocking to her school teachers. She started working early on to earn her own money by babysitting and then by picking raspberries and working the firework stand. She then moved onto Pizza Hut and then waitressing, which is where she met the love of her life, Russ Evans.
She became a mom right away, inheriting Russ’ two children Bowdy and Kobi. They added Cody to their little family shortly after. Dusty loved being a wife, mom, aunt, and finally a grandma! Dusty was constantly in the habit of opening her home to anyone who needed it, there were always enough beds and never too many mouths to feed. In her ideal world, you’d find her camping, fishing, and just spending time with her family and friends. She also played a mean game of disc golfing.
Dusty had a lot of health problems throughout her life but never let them bring her down. She always had a smile on her face and always remained stoic. She stayed sassy until the very end, her last words (directed at Heidi and Penny trying to comb her hair) being “what are you trying to do to me?”
Dusty is survived by her children- Bowdy, Kobi, Cody, and Taryn (adopted). Her parents- Ronna and Wayne Martineau. Her siblings- Michelle Barnett (Mark), Ginger Tejada (Rich), Brandon Martineau (Tiffani), Dallas Martineau, Penny Parsons (Brian), Caleb Martineau (Joy), and Cayce Martineau (Nick). Her granddaughter Sparrow, countless nieces & nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many many best friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Russ, her mother-in-law Diane, brother-in-law Mike, and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Joyful Heart Foundation.
