Ed Altman's Obituary
Ed Altman
November 9, 1937 – January 9, 2020
Ed Altman was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He pursued a lifelong career in the Chicago Fire Department. After a successful career, he retired as the Fire Commissioner of Chicago.
His retirement led him and his wife Judy to settle in Florida. There, he enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He also attended and served at Sarasota Baptist Church. Meeting many good friend there, Ed and Judy loved playing cards with them, eating dinners out, and living a simple life.
Over the past six months Ed and Judy moved to Utah. Ed resided at The Sheridan in South Jordan. Judy spent nearly every night there with him. They ate dinner together, attended ice-cream socials, watched golf tournaments and current events on television. A favorite memory was this past Christmas – he sang carols to the residents at The Sheridan.
His last days were calm. He enjoyed holding his wife’s hand, and he passed away doing just that.
He is survived by his wife, children and step-children, and many grandkids and great-grandchildren. We will miss him dearly.
