Edythe R. Pietramala Dover's Obituary
Edythe R. Pietramala Dover
August 23, 1931 - March 24, 2024
Our loving Edie went home to the Lord on Palm Sunday to be reunited with her beloved husband, Chuck, Papa, Mama and her wonderful siblings who were waiting for her arrival. Edie was the last living first generation member of the Giuseppe and Frances Pietramala family. She has yearned for them the past few years and is now at peace. She was born in Salt Lake City and was proud of her Italian heritage and growing up on Salt Lake’s west side.
Edie was known for her crazy antics and enjoyed bringing love and laughter to any gathering. She was a little person with a bigger than life personality and an even bigger heart. She always had one more funny song to sing or a wild story to share. She would tell us how she met her husband, Chuck and how she used him as a shield while running away from some other boys at school. They married Sep. 2, 1950 and enjoyed nearly 72 years of marriage together. They were blessed with 3 children Chuck Dover, Jr. (Tina), JoAnn Bussell (Carlos) and DiAnn Calacino (Angelo). She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always happy to sit on the floor to play with them. Don’t worry Mom. We will continue the legacy of family with gatherings and times together.
Edie earned her cosmetology license and enjoyed being a beautician in her early years. Later on she and her son owned and operated Giuseppe’s Restaurant for nearly 15 years. Her love of children lead her to spend some time raising foster children and she would recall those special kids with fond memories.
Chuck and Edie were blessed with 38 years of retirement. They travelled to many places. They joined friends on motorhome journeys throughout the West. They saw most of Europe and visited Canada and Mexico. These trips were enhanced by stops along the way to visit family and friends. The time they devoted to others earned them lots of love and special memories.
Special thanks to Holly, Brianna, and Michelle at Active Home Health Care for helping mom the past few years. We appreciate all who cared for her and took the time to visit and call. Thanks to the amazing staff and residents of the Abbington who welcomed her the past few months. As always Mom brought her unique humor and energy there and quickly made many friends.
Her viewing will be held Thursday, April 4th at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, Utah from 630p-830p. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin’s at 1100am Friday April 5th. Interment will be at Mt Calvary Cemetery 275 East T Street, Salt Lake City, followed by a Celebration of Life at St. Martin’s. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Knights of Columbus Scholarship.
